Identify dissolved organics, chlorine, taste and odor compounds, color, pH, suspended solids and the required outlet quality. Seasonal variation should be included.
Choose the operating form
Granular activated carbon supports continuous fixed-bed treatment. Powdered carbon can be dosed for batch, seasonal or emergency control and then separated with downstream solids handling.
Confirm equipment compatibility
Review empty-bed contact time, particle size, backwash expansion, pressure drop, fines, startup rinse and biological activity before approving a grade.
